When it comes to third-person shooters, I either really dislike the combat system, or I really enjoy it. The Division’s combat has been fluid and even though you don’t have the most health in the world, that is equalized with a great cover system as well as the useful abilities that you have in the game.
The Division is very tactical, but isn’t overwhelmingly challenging. Plus the addition of having friends to play with, being tactical has its advantages. You could go all out, guns blazing, but by going tactical and using the cover or abilities provided, makes the missions or chasing down rogue agents in the Dark Zone even more enjoyable.
Gaming with friends is a blast. If you enjoy multiplayer games that you and your friends can all play, The Division is promising. Running through missions at a higher difficulty or getting better loot in the Dark Zone has proved to be more fun with a friend than solo.
If you like the idea of customization, The Division offers a lot. Take cosmetics for example. By picking out what your character will look like physically, to changing what clothes that they wear, this makes the game more of a personal experience. There is also mechanical customization like gun mods, which can enhance your DPS, magazine size, rate of fire, appearance of your guns and other beneficial stat changes. You can also customize the UI, like turning off the HUD when out of combat.
There are a few cons that I can think of after playing through the beta. Since The Division is an online only game, if you don’t have the best internet or no internet at all, this could be a problem. The Division is also very social. That being said, if it's difficult to team up with friends, this might take some enjoyment out of it. Teaming up with strangers can be more frustrating than beneficial.
Speaking of the Dark Zone, there isn’t much to do here. In the PvE area of the game, there is a bunch of random encounters and extra missions to do throughout the city, but in the Dark Zone, there isn’t much to do here except chase down rogues or go rogue yourself. If there was random events that were to happen in the Dark Zone that offered more DZ currency, that might make things a little bit more interesting.
Overall though, The Division is on this list of games that I will be getting. With it coming out in March, it will be something to play with friends while I wait for other new titles to release.
